Lord Mayor sheds light on Simon Community NI's local impact during Homelessness Awareness Week.
Marking Homelessness Awareness Week, leading homeless charity Simon Community NI hosted a special event on Tuesday 4 December, which brought together members of the community and clients from its Bangor service.
Guests at the Tree of Hope event included Mayor of Ards and North Down, Richard Smart, as well as representatives from local churches, council and agencies such as Chest Heart & Stroke and Health Trust.
With Christmas often being a particularly difficult time for those experiencing homelessness, the staff at Bangor’s temporary accommodation service, which supports up to 25 individuals each day, wanted to work with clients to create an opportunity for individuals to highlight their hopes and aspirations.
Simon Community NI has been a leading figure within Bangor’s homelessness community for over 20 years. Our clients and staff wanted to take the opportunity during Homelessness Awareness Week to highlight our work and raise awareness for those with no home. Thank you to everyone who came along to show support.
