Emergency and Temporary Accommodation

Homelessness can happen to anyone. A sudden loss of a rental property, a relationship or family breakdown, or a change in circumstances can leave people with nowhere stable to turn. Many find themselves rough sleeping, while others rely on friends or relatives and end up sofa surfing – often feeling invisible and unsupported.

How to Access

The Housing Executive is responsible for providing accommodation for anyone who is legally homeless, and we take referrals for our accommodation services through the Housing Executive. If the Housing Executive has no duty to provide you with temporary housing (has not awarded you with FDA), they may ask you to contact us directly. This is called a self-referral. We receive many requests, and space is limited, so we may not always be able to offer a bed. Even if we cannot provide accommodation, we will talk through your options and offer advice and guidance where we can.

I didn’t find Simon Community – Simon Community found me. Their project was relaxed and removed the temptation of drugs, which gave me the freedom to process my thoughts. The staff supported me at my best and worst, always without judgement. Because of them, I’ve been able to work on goals to help my recovery.

Keith

When I moved into Simon Community, the staff were amazing – they treat you with respect. I’ve got my own flat and do my own cooking and washing. It’s a brilliant place with a big support network. I’ve made lots of friends and have so much more confidence now.
