Walk past 65 Bridge Street on any given day and it looks like any other Georgian building. But behind its doors is a world that few people, thankfully, will ever need to experience.
There’s no sign outside for Simon Community, there doesn’t need to be.
We’re deeply rooted in the local community people know where to find us.
Over the years, we’ve become a beacon for those in crisis. People without a roof over their heads, struggling with mental health, or simply needing help with the basics or just having someone listen without judgement.
Our service at 65 Bridge Street can support up to 17 people at a time, each with their own unique story. Behind the scenes, our staff team, with an incredible 119 years of experience between them bring knowledge, compassion, and a calmness. That experience has built trust not only with the people who come through our doors but also with the wider community and partner organisations across the city.
This is how stronger communities are built, by working together, sharing resources, and lifting up those who need it most.
Our collaborations mean we can respond quickly and effectively to issues that affect our town, ensuring people get the right help at the right time.
65 Bridge Street is a short-term solution for those in crisis, but the goal is always the same, to help people move on to safe, secure homes in the community.
With targeted support and the skills gained here, many of our residents make that transition successfully, reducing the risk of returning to homelessness.
And even when they move on, the relationships built here often last.
Of course, none of this would be possible without the generosity of local people and businesses, your support fills the gaps that central funding can’t always reach.
It’s a reminder that behind this Georgian façade is not just a building – it’s a lifeline, powered by the kindness of the Newry community.
