A Northern Ireland Free From Homelessness

What the next Executive must deliver.

As Northern Ireland prepares for the 2027 Assembly Election, Simon Community is calling on all political parties to make ending homelessness a priority by committing to more homes, stronger prevention and better access to healthcare.

More Homes

1. Build at least 2,200 social homes per year
2. End or pause the House Sales Scheme
3. Ban no-fault evictions

Stronger Prevention

1. Modernise homelessness legislation
2. Make prevention everyone’s responsibility
3. Expand Housing First for Youth

Better Access to Healthcare

1. Homelessness training for health
& social care workers
2. Integrated mental health
and addiction support
3. Expand Inclusion Health services

It’s obvious what we need – more homes, better support before people reach breaking point and services that work together to help people rebuild their lives. Now it’s up to our politicians to take homelessness seriously and do the work that will make a real difference to tens of thousands of people here.
